Miscellaneous - Thoughtless Idea - Safety Fuel ![]()
Overview:
Basics Idea (for SynchroLite):
To be able to supply a few minutes of extra gasoline to the running engine after one of the engines has quit running because of no fuel left in the fuel tank.
![]()
Method:
There is one fuel tank. It has a divider in the lower 25%. Both engines draw fuel from the same tank for the first 75% of the tank then they will draw fuel from their own sub portion of the tank for the last 25%. It is very unlikely that the 2 engines will draw fuel at exactly the same rate therefore this divider assures 2 engines will not run out simultaneously.
I hope.Located directly above the divider is a small 'safety fuel' container. The container is balanced on a hinge athe the top of this divider. The pressure from the crankcase of one of the engines stops the container from tipping in one direction and pressure from the other engine's crankcase stops it from tipping in the other direction.
If one engine quits then the container dumps the small amount of extra fuel into the other engine's lower tank segment.
Can possibly be above the 5 gallon FAR limit because the fuel can only be used as a safety feature after one of the engines has quite.
