Item 1352

DESIGN: UniCopter ~ Rotor - Blade - NACA 00xx - Elastomeric Active Twist Brg.

Overview:

Axial X-section through the Elastomer:

There appears to be no reason for the shims. ~ May 26, 2005

There is the ability to locate cylindrical shims (as shown above), with different diameters and lengths, inside the elastomer. This is standard for a conventional radial elastomeric bearing but I don't believe that it will be necessary.

Consider:

Consider having an extension on the elastomeric where the core's edges are. This will eliminate the feather thin edge and may be better in transferring the torque from the elastomeric to the core.

Note:

The following notes discuss the use of shims. They are left in the text to help explain the function of the elastomeric.
