Overview:

A 2-blade rotor will cause vibration when the cyclic stick is moved off the center position. See; DESIGN: SynchroLite ~ Rotor - Disk - Lift Distribution re: Vibration. Look into the drive train mounting idea.

Initial Perceived Advantages Over Hub - 3-blade CVJ w/ Hub Spring:

The 2-blade will be lighter.

The CVJ in both hubs should eliminate the need for lead-lag hinges, which are required to eliminate the oscillation between the two rotors.

The 2-blade rotor will have larger blades and the disk will have a lower disk loading.

The rotors should have a better clearance.

The cost should be less.

The storage and transportation will be easier.

Notes:

If standard SynchroLite blades are used, the disk diameter will be 1" to 3" greater. Any objections?

Drawing 0442 shows clearances but it is for 3-blade and MAY have to be revised for this 2-blade.

Use large tip weights (1 lb.), to give stability, better RRPM control, and more energy for flare during autorotation. The hub spring should allow for good control and response, even with relatively large tip weights.
