Item 1717

OTHER: Helicopter - Inside - Single Rotor - Tip-Jet (pinwheel) and Enhanced Flight-Control

Forget!

Concern. ~ A mechanical reduction of the speed will produce a yaw in the craft, unless there is an opposing brake clutch that is driven in the opposite direction. This will generate heat and may cause a meaningful loss of power.

Perhaps an electrical coupling may work. To rings of opposing permanent magnets do 100% of the torque transfer. Then a separate (or interlinked) coils and permanent magnets alternate between generator and motor to fine tune the speed and power.

Consider the use of steam; and a propeller

Workup of Rotor:

Features:

Principal Assemblies:

Speed of tip-jets:

325 * 30 = 9,750 RPM = 162.5 rps

Circumference of tip-jets:

1,033 / 162.5 = 6.35 ft

Radius of tip-jets:

6.35 / (2 * 22 / 7) = 1.0 ft

Concerns:

    1. Defuse the sound. Or, is there a way to have half the noise be offset from the other half so that the two halves cancel each other?
    2. Act as a turbofan and add to the thrust in the area where the 'fountain effect' takes place.
    3. Add to the rotational inertia of the gyroscope.
