Angular Tube Movements Caused by Collective Action:
Full collective stick raises the back ends of the yaw & cyclic tubes ( "mixer box") by .75"
The distance from tube pivot, at the front, to the "mixer-box" is approximately 53.5". This means that the maximum angular change at the pivot point at the front is 0.8 degrees.
The distance from stabilizer, in the tail, to the "mixer-box" is approximately 69.6". This means that the maximum angular change at the pivot point at the front is 0.617 degrees. This means that the maximum angular change at the "mixer-box" between the above tubes and the tube to the stabilizer is 1.417 degrees. There fore the flexible coupling at this location need only handle about 1-1/5 degrees of flex.
Angular Movements on Rod End on Bell-crank; to Determine Orientation of Rod End (bolt pointing longitudinally or laterally:
Longitudinal:
Caused by cyclic only.
Bell-crank horizontal arm is 1.6243"
Bell-crank upward movement is 0.3774"
The angular movement, from the normal position (@ 90 degrees) is 13.435 degrees.
Lateral:
Caused by yaw only.
The maximum from yaw is 14.47 degrees (see drg 0337).
This is probably the be method of evaluation:
The maximum swashplate movement is 15 degrees in all azimuths.
The longitudinal arm is 1.6228" long
The lateral arm is 1.375" long.
The lateral arm must rotate the most to give the same movement at the swashplate, there for have the rod end bearing axis running for/aft.
Also the above Longitudinal is based on the forward cyclic where the stick movement is +13 degrees. The rear movement is only -9 degrees so the average longitudinal cyclic will be less. This should be handled by sloping the attachment point for the lower end of the rear control rod so that the rod end bearing is aligned when there is 2 degrees of forward cyclic.
